Some of you guys are savage geez. Anf seems to be doing really well. They are charging a ton for the drums and apparently selling a decent number of them. They have an excellent dealer network in a lot of the boutique drum shops across the country, and a great artist roster. Regardless of how you feel their drums sound they are obviously doing something right.

C$5,895.95 ? Sorry, not hearing it. The 16 FT sounds like they forgot to cut the bearing edge. You shouldn't have to pay more than $100 for that sound.
Hmmm. Yea, not lovin the sounds there. I agree that recording and tuning may help, but... yikes.

As I was searching for what A&F might be like with a better recoeding, I stumbled on this:

**** 28" GONG SNARE !! *****
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjN3g6z07ZE

Who knew that was a thing? (and..why is that a thing?)
And, it seems a lil wobbly..

YMMV

John Sparrow plays one in the Violent Femmes. (Of course, he also plays a charcoal grill on stage. ..)

Pardon my naiveness, but besides the clinics and stuff, isn't that what PASIC is for lol?

I agree though, from reading the experiences posted about NAMMs in the past few years to the present, it seems like it's become the wild west instead of a bonafide trade show.

I think you might be right. I've never been able to attend way back when. But I have to admit when at the 2017 show, there were cosplay types there. This year they said you couldn't wear any kind of masks, so that improved it. But I saw a guy in an alligator costume taking pictures with people, and some fancy make-up characters....this year seemed more business with the absence of the crazies. But there was also a new building added to the Anaheim convention center, which made it difficult when trying to meet up with people who've never been there before (i.e, "I'm by the fountain by the band", not knowing there were now TWO fountains and TWO stages).

Which only proves how easy it can be, marketing works.

Sorry, Im not hearing $6K worth of sound versatility in any A $ F demo vids. Sound potential is hard to hide.

What is a boutique drum shop and why is it even allowed?

Iíd say a drum shop that specializes in carrying many of the more boutique builders and smaller companies. I think of revival drum shop, Memphis, Chicago music exchange, etc. doesnít mean thatís all they carry but they stock less mainstream companies as well.
