Default Single stroke exercise with 4&5 stroke ruffs

Hey guys!

If you're looking for new things to do with your singles, here's an exercise that might prove to be fun. It's a combination of singles in 16ths and 4&5 stroke ruffs. Look at the notation to get the exact stickings.

I hope you enjoy.

This is a great exercise! I have been looking for something to help with my single stroke control. Thanks for posting!

Excellent, and very timely, as my last lesson just covered ruffs.

Question: Will these rudimental exercises ultimately improve my "Keith Moon" ruffs?

You can see the KM ruff conspicuously overused in context here:

Thanks for the kind words. I think it's a good idea to practice various ways of playing a single stroke roll and this might be one of them. Enjoy!

Thanks!! Yes, I think it will definitely help. Keith Moon mostly plays the 4 stroke ruff starting on the right if I'm not mistaken. So in the exercise here, you'll be covering other variations as well. It would be a good idea to play the whole page backwards too.

These are great! I'm always looking for new ways to improve my single stroke rolls as IMO I feel they're an essential part of the "Big 3" of rudiment practice (doubles and paradiddle rounding out the list).

There are a lot of rhythms we can explore with single strokes. I hope these ones will help develop your hands. :)
