Default Help identify vintage yamaha drumset

Hi!
I found an old Yamaha with an old badge.
Can someone date the drums?
What wood are they made of?
Its a set 12x8, 14x14 and 20x14.

Pre-76. As for the wood, couldn't tell you. I don't know if the catalogs back then even said.

Those old yamahas are pretty collectible now. Especially if in good condition. Definitely a jazz style kit, I've never seen one in person but I've heard a lot of audio on the internet and they sound great

Here's a catalog scan, from 1969. Looks like the same badge. The 20, 12, 14 kit is called the D-20. My guess on wood ..... Philippine Mahogany.

That badge belongs to a kit made between 69 up until mid 70's.

A D-series kit. These range anywhere from 350-750. They are a mix of birch and Mahogany.

Do you have a picture of the wrap? This is my D-18 (12/14/18/14 a rare beastie) in Black Willow from 1969.

All original.

Then yours is most likely a 70's model.

I had a kit like that too:

This was called the DTT-225. DTT because it had two 12'' rack toms.
