Default Yet another DW drone

I was watching a documentary about Elton John's recording of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and it was fun watching Nigel Olsson play and sing and then that was followed by a concert recently recorded of Elton and his band doing a show in Vegas when much to my chagrin I see Nigel behind a honkin double bass DW kit...No disrespect to Nigel, his abilities as a fine drummer but c'mon man can't someone sport a kit other than DW?

Saw a tribute to Jerry Garcia and the band kit was a DW.

I've tried playing on a DW kit, I've listened to numerous recordings of fine drummers playing DW kits and I just don't get it. I will put Ludwig, Pearl and my own Pork Pie kit against and DW kit anywhere on any day and sonically the aforementioned kits sound better.

DW to me is like Heineken beer-overpriced and overrated. I know this will attract hateful responses but I am unmoved.

Hey, I like Heineken and will gladly pay a buck more for one than be forced to drink a Coors Light or some other such swill...

That said, I'm not a huge DW fan either. Been there, done that, wasn't my thing, but it certainly doesn't bother me in the least if someone else decides that DW's are their thing. To each his own. Play what you want. Who cares?

No, I completely agree. DW are by far the most underwhelming drums around.

Nigel ruled when he played Slingerland.

I helped this young couple push their broke down car to a gas station last weekend. By the time I get there, I was all huffin' and puffin'. Stopped in to get a beer before walking back to my car and heading home. I made a comment to the clerk, a Nigerian, "Whoo! I'm out of shape". He said it was because I drink "that bad beer" and suggested I get "good beer" like Heineken instead.

He made a compelling argument, I bought Heineken instead of something cheap.

I believe John Good has a way of making Pro Drummers think that DW Drums are the king of the hill, with his knocking on shells and all that hocus pocus. Or its just endorsement fueled Music Industry politics.

Hating on a drum brand is basically insulting to those members on a forum who own one, and of course likely to produce hateful responses.
It is a drone. Mission accomplished I guess.
