Default Acoustic to electric...triggers and modules???

I have a Tama acoustic kit with new Remo silentstroke heads on it and while it has a good feel and are really quiet, the fact that it's so quiet makes them harder to play. I was reading through some stuff tonight and I came across electronic drum triggers and module and I was wondering if these can be added to my acoustic kit to give me a louder sound through my headphones or monitors?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks
James

You're Actually building an ekit.

very common thing to do.. go to the VDRUMS forums if you want.

basically add a trigger to each drum, plug into module, put in headphones and enjoy. (you will need to mess with settings like sensitivity, threshold etc.)

Have you played an ekit before? those are drum triggers.

Google Roland drum triggers and you will see the ones that attach to acoustic drums. I use one on my bassdrum all the time.

I've just sold my Roland td5 module to my friend who is using mesh heads and my ddrum triggers

Triggers are pretty cheap, you already have the heads, just look on eBay for an old td5, triggers are cheap too

Thanks for the info. Sounds pretty straight forward. NOw I just need to get the funds for the triggers and module. 🤔

You also need to decide what method you want to use for mounting the triggers. Most common are crossbar and edge mounts.

I've used DDRUM triggers and Roland triggers [rim mount] for a while, with no big issues.

For the longest time, I ran all of the triggers into a Roland TMC-6, then MIDI from that into a Roland SPD-20 or SPD-30.

For a smaller 4-piece configuration, I skip the TMC-6 and am running my drum triggers straight into a Yamaha DTX502.

It's a neat world of experimentation. Have fun with that!
