If you can't make up your mind, it probably means it isn't time for a new drum set.

Good point..I think I'll do that :)

Going to go with the Red&Blue Hybrid Sparkle Mapex Saturn V MH
Has all the right sizes I want, and maybe I'll even get the 5 piece and just sell off the 10" and keep the 14" in case I wanna use it in the future. Same price as a 4 piece Cherry Mist Burl, why, I don't know.

https://www.drummersuperstore.com/Pr...28XPH&CartID=1

https://www.drummersuperstore.com/Pr...29XPH&CartID=2

https://reverb.com/item/4049671-mape...gs-us-shipping

But can someone explain if this is ACTUALLY a Saturn V MH or not?
I don't see this finish under Mapex website for Saturn V MH
Only the red, blue, natural and black.

However, I made an offer on the Reverb site because I don't need the drum bags, so if they accept my offer I'll just get the 4 piece.

Great kit in a great colour.

I know 'cause it's the colour that I have.

The only advice I would give is not to sell the 10" tom straight away. You may just like it, and whether you've played it just a little or not at all won't make any difference to a theoretical sale price.

Come back with pics or it didn't happen, and tell us how much you love the new kit when it arrives.

Thanks for the advice.
Will do!! :) I'm gonna be getting a great deal on a 4 piece. And possibly also a great deal on a 5 piece if this guy has the matching 14x12 floor tom. Once I get it I'll figure out how to post pics for sure!

One more thing...

These drums usually come with decent heads. Mine arrived with a ported reso head on the BD, which I swapped out immediately. The other heads are all quality Remo heads. When I first set my drums up, the 10 and 16 tom weren't very interesting, but the 12, right out of the box, made my chest resonate whenever I struck it. I tuned the 10 and 16 to the same level of awesomeness, and haven't looked back since.

And the rumbly growl of the 16 floor tom is superb. My band plays a rockabilly-esque version of Tainted Love, and we also play Exes and Ohs. Both songs give me a chance to use the 16 FT a lot. Heaven!

I'll probably swap out all batters within a month. Reso, I don't usually touch aside from the bass drum.

So, I've bit the bullet. Mapex Saturn V MH Red/Blue Hybrid Sparkle. 22x18, 10x7, 12x8, 14x12, 16x14, all factory sealed and brand new.
No tax, no shipping, $1,550. I couldn't say no to that deal lol should take about a week to arrive. I'll post pics most likely on my Instagram and share that on here(if I'm allowed to)
It's basically just justinwunderlich or Wunderlich drums. Whichever shows me in a "I drum because.." Hoodie :)

Oh man, I'm so jealous! A great kit and a fantastic finish!

I'd put these up against just about anything out there. And as said above, don't immediately toss out those factory heads! I heard they actually sound really good.

Always be careful what you wish for.

Here's a FB link to an early go at it.

...and that was before my Saturns arrived.

For what it is worth, I have found that a 16 inch deep bass drum goes into a vehicle easier than an 18 inch deep bass drum. Peace and goodwill.

Reverb.com is pretty much the best at this point.

I second this motion.

I have a friend who has been having excellent luck selling drums on Reverb.

Thanks JJ. I asked because we are covering that tune but using the Imelda May version as a starting point and slowing it down a little. Sounds similar to what you guys are doing!

That's almost EXACTLY what we are doing! We also found the Imelda May version, and just used it as a jumping off point.

I JUST got it all set up last night fter clearing out all my mics, cables, etc and vacuuming and such :D

I LOVE the contrasting colors of the red/blue sparkle and the brown maple snare, so, as I was searching for a new snare as well because I'll be selling the Meridian kit, I decided to give 13" a try. and I'm glad I thought of that.
The 12x8 that came with the Saturn V isn't fitting where I want it to because of the 14x5.5 Meridian snare, so i had to put the 10x7 on the kit. I just ordered a Mapex Blaster 13x7 snare! :)))

So, once I get the 13x7 Blaster, I'll be switching to the 12x8 rack tom, and possibly giving the 14x12 floor tom a try as well.
The kit looks amazing in person, and surprisingly almost as good in pictures with decent lighting, although I forgot how horrible most drumsets sound with stock heads! hahaha

But then again, I had so little time to set it up and I just wanted to play already so i only did a quick 2-3 min tune-up or tune-down for each drum. I'm surprised actually with the bass drum. I barely tuned it at all and it sounds amazing. A bit too high pitched because I cranked the batter a bit too much, BUT, that can be fixed easily.

So, for the pics. Personally, I love the vibrancy the snare gives the rest of the kit.

Thanks for all the help guys! :) Very stoked about this kit and glad I took all of your advice into consideration.

Sorry for the way these came out, I had to use picmonkey because the file sizes were too big.

Awesome!

I know from personal knowings that the drums look even better in the flesh.
