This. =-D

She's a teacher and knows to donate it to her school music program for someone to learn or play on.
I refurbished many djembe's a while back and gave them away to schools all over town. The same will go for my drum stuff.

I found out over the Holidays that my niece's son is now playing drums and trumpet. He's in sixth grade. If he keeps up with the drums, I'll give him a kit when he turns sixteen.

Instead of a casket my body will be rolled up in the bass drum.

My main kit is a former kit from a very well known U.K. rock band, so the value of it is quite high due to the amount of coverage it’s had and that will be passed onto my partner to sell.

All my other stuff will be passed onto children (if we have any) or her to sell also.

Family.

Unfortunately after years of acquiring multiple kits, cymbals, edrums, recording gear, mics, cables, stands, triggers, and much much more, No one but me really knows the real value in my family.

I think it's best for the wife I keep it that way or she will go out and buy 50 more pairs of shoes.

If it ends up at a garage sale at my house someone will get a deal, and as with me too, lots of good homebrew gear hahaha.

As long as I am burred with a few pairs of sticks so if I wake up I can do zombie paradiddles on the inside of my coffin. Or Ghost paradiddles as I'll most likely end up cremated. I plan on living forever so I haven't put much thought into this.

Also, if anyone needs someone to donate their stuff to I'll gladly jump in the will and help you out haha.

I know this is a serious thread, but every time I read the title I keep thinking "When I pass what? The bar exam? The slow driver clogging up the left lane? Gas?"

Sorry. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

If I know in advance of my departure, I will sell all I can to help my wife with expenses, not that it will be much because other than cymbals, most of my stuff is low end.

If unexpected, my wife will likely hold onto it forever as she is sentimental, or will give it to my kids, who will let it rot and turn to dust.

I'm not certain what will happen to my stuff, but I'm sure I won't care.

My biggest fear is that my wife sells my drum gear at prices equivalent to what I told her I paid for it :-)

The entire collection will be sold and the money will be given to a local homeless shelter.

Certain kits will be offered to people as detailed in my will and other sets and pieces will hopefully get picked up by an east coast seller in bulk. (they'll re-sell)

I'd recommend those with a lot of gear setup points of contacts that can consignment sell or buy outright. It will save your family a ton of time and frustration. I had a middle-aged friend that acquired a full-size Uhaul of sound equipment for his business. He passed suddenly and his wife was stuck with everything and no instructions.

Im considering a move like Brett Weston:

Quote:
Weston, on his 80th birthday and two years before his death in 1993, surrounded by friends and family, tossed every one of his negatives into a brightly burning fireplace in his home in California. He had been promising to destroy all his film for more than two decades in a bid to pass on ultimate control over the editioning of his work to his estate.

I don't know, but it's a reminder to me that I don't have any sort of will set up yet, and I really should.

I have been making arrangements on how my sister is to deal with all of my stuff and i have been selling almost everything i own (i won't be around much longer, getting ready), after dealing with other family dying and trying to figure out their stuff i don't want to burden anyone with that.. i plan to leave Nothing to really deal with and a good amount of life insurance, make sure my existence meant something in death even though it didn't in life.

Drums will go on craigslist... job done.

I'm sorry you feel that way and I am certain that your existence means far more than you currently feel it does.

Getting toward the end is freaking depressing. Hell, I have a good 15 or 20 left and I think about it WAY too often.

All we can do is take care of business, put a positive spin on life and do things that put a smile on our faces :)

Oh crap I had not thought of that!

You know this is the case for most of us right ?

When I moved my new recording customs in the house my wife actually asked me : hey you set up your old black kit ?

The only black kit I ever had was a used used and abused Tama kit. Which I sold some 20-odd years ago.

I actually think that she thinks my whole meinl byzance setup, dunnett and ludwig snares and 2 drum kits, hardware & bells and whistles are worth something like 500$.

I need to get my son or daughter or niece or nephew or any of my friends kid to take up the instrument.

I have an 8 year old grandson just starting to express interest. I got him one of those little "Pyle" drum pad sets for Xmas, and if he keeps showing interest I'll give him my kit in a few years.
