Default Time signature please?

This is really worth a watch.

Incredible playing from all concerned.

But what's the time signature from 4.18?

It's preceded by a section in 5/4 - and I can almost count 4/4 through it, but not quite!

Cheers.

I would call it 2/4 or 2/2. Or 4/4.

It's just 4/4. Nothing more.

Agree. They're playing funky around a standard 4. Also agree it might be easier to just do 2's there as the measure.

SP is great. Cool music.

I'm with supermac - I just can't latch on to it. At least listening through a phone.

Not my greatest skill for sure....but...

Primary parts are 4, but I am feeling a real strong 5 count in the horn-heavy parts... Maybe even a bar of 6 going into the horn heavy parts...?

I also think there is some funny buisness with the meter that is adding to the cool feel of it. Like horns just behind and bass just ahead of the beat? Not sure exactly...I could be completely wrong on all counts. Lol

I gladly defer to the "real" drummers here though!

Great tune for sure, I need to check these guys out.

I'm pretty sure most of that part is just in 4/4 with some odd rhythms and syncopation to make it sound funny.

Looking at this score here - https://musescore.com/user/346036/scores/686076 - it seems pretty much 4/4 that whole time.

Also, I gotta say that Larnell Lewis is such a tank on the drums. His groove is so good, especially in this song and "What About Me?".

Listening to it again, lots of the first section up until 4.18 is in 5/4 or 10/4.

The solo section - as others have said - does turn out to be 4/4, but with syncopation!

Great performance anyway.

Must check out more of their stuff.
