Default Best book for jazz standards?

which is the best ''Real Book'' to buy for jazz standards?
Too many versions out there :-0
Better the buy the paper book or downloadable version pdf?

Volume 1 of the Real Book is a good place to start, if for no other reason than a lot of people use it. Get whichever version you think you'll use. I guess it'll mainly be for following along while listening, and for practicing? You don't need it on actual gigs.

Exactly, i need it for learning, melodies, chord progressions and structure of the most popular standards.

better downlodable or standard version ?

We used the fifth edition if my memory still is intact when I went to Berklee back in 79-81.

It depens in which country you live...itīs important to have the same most saxophone, piano, etc. players use.

In countries like Germany or Holland the "Real Book" is not much used (there are others with more accurate transcriptions of the tunes), however in places like Spain, Argentina, etc. itīs the main one in use...
