Do you find it difficult to move between your second floor tom and snare? You and I have pretty much the same tom layout. Today I was thinking about putting my second floor tom on the left side.

I just need to get a good stretch before sitting behind the kit but lately I found that I doesn't even need to turn much on the side since my arm reach easily that floor tom. If you look my throne is just aside the 16" floor tom. I saw some setup where the floor tom was really behind the throne (or drummer).

As for moving mine on the left, nah ! I prefer a aux. snare.

I loved my swingstars. They served me very well. I even had that same color, it looked great in the daylight.
How you like that big ride?

p.s. send me a shirt!

I like it too !

As for the ride, it was always a dream having a big ride, and I like it a lot but it's little bit too loud and miss some stick definition. I have plan to get a 20" or 21" thin jazzy ride which I'll fit where my 24" is at the moment and move my big ride on my left over the hi-hat (for some open-handed playing).

My wife should really asked for a second T-shirt !

My thinking philosophy is everything nearer mean less fatigue with better execution (not exactly what I do but anyways :-) ). As for the heads, I ordered them all during last christmas time. I just need to replace my toms and bass drum reso soon... BTW I love these heads !

Thank's man ! I appreciate.

Aquarian texture coated are single ply medium weight heads with thicker coating (which is why they last longer), they are little bit thicker than REMO ambassador but thinner than any two ply head. They are just the perfect mix for having a really good amout of resonance while retaining just few amount of unwanted overtone ( I find them perfect), they sound really warm and they are sensitive with brushes for light playing. They are really easy to tune and they keep their tuning for a long period. I might say their tuning range is good (I never cranked my toms heads but my snare is cranked and it's satisfying). The response II is a really good two ply head which has good resonance and fat deep sound. I loved them on my floor toms. It's probably well suited for heavy rock / metal player. You think thunder has just striked when pounding the 16" floor tom. Superkick I, IMO is the most versatile head produced. A good amount of punch, resonance and thud/boom mix. I tune it medium/low and the basement is shaking (now I can't imagine what's gonna happen when I'll replace my reso with regulator... or maybe will it be REMO fyberskin cause I'm in love the look).

I highly recommend you to try these heads, you'll be more than pleased.

Great looking kit mind drummer. I really like the SD options you have. It looks like you are ready for almost any situation! Thanks for the details on the Aquarine heads. I have been considering them and I think you have sold me. Especially with the statement "they are little bit thicker than REMO ambassador but thinner than any two ply head." I think that's where a lot of people would like in a drum head.

Thank's ! My snare options is something I looked for since a long time. And yes give Aquarian texture coated a good test drive. You'll be charmed

Again thank's ! Aquarian let my drums sing with a warm voice, I'm in love. Sure they are phil. mahogany and dont have the projection of maple but they offer a warm dark tone which somewhat I like.

BTW Karl, following your snare head thread, I tried tonight my new modern vintage snare head and I think you would fall in love with it. I'm happy I got the medium weight, WOW what a classic head. It's been a long time I haven't head a snare head like that. Everything Roy Burns said about this head is true. First real easy to tune (the head itself already had tone) then... the world fall, it's really sensitive just touching the head you hear the snare rattle, first hit - you hear the drum instead of the head ! Brushes work is absolutely amazing, it open a brand world ! Now I need to get use to it cause the last time I heard a snare sound like this was maybe like 25 years ago...

Nice kit! I'm a Tama guy too. Your cymbal array is almost exactly how I want mine. I'm slowly building up to that amount, but the placement is almost spot on! I'd like to try out a Wuhan.

Except your cymbals collection has really more class than mine but I,m always improving my set with better gears. :-)

Thank's ! I like to setup the most confortable way possible and leave hole for new add-on... I strongly invite you to try out these china cymbal - cheap price / good trashy sound - couldn't ask for more. :-)

i am asuming that because the swingstars do not cost alot, despite being good quality, you can really afford to have a huge kit. is this true/ a good idea?

Well, first when I bought my kit I had limited budget but as my "wallet" had some spare money, I invested in my kit. Now I just still invest in some better gear etc... I dont know if it's good idea but it's how it went though.

Thank's buddy ! As for cymbals, I'd like to still upgrade the B8 but since they are thin, they sound somewhat good...

If you talk about Aquarian texture coated, they are very warm with a good amount of resonance, It just happened to me to love them ! The modern vintage heads are what you call a big band sound heads. very open which let you hear the drum and not the head. Really easy to tune.

Thank's dude ! I try to set it up the most versatile I can. And yes with those heads it sound really, really good (for a Swingstar)...

I see you were trying to get that classic rock look when you took the 4th picture through an evans hydraulic.

Nice kit, cool color. Those new Swingstars are pretty good drums. My first "pro" kit, back in '82, was a Tama Swingstar.

Thank you for reviving my kit thread, maybe the look of my hats may happen to looks so "used" coz they are cheap and need to be replaced !!!

I wont need to do that, I'll replace them soon enough and even, I like the look of used cymbals better.

I have the thin ones and they somewhat sound good because they are darker sound (not bright as thicker B8 bronze in any brand series) but when I'll be able to afford to replace them, I wont wait, I'll do.

My 18" wuhan sound really trashy / "china style" / and for the price it's unbeatable. I like it very much and I love my 12" too. The only advice I would say to you is be sure to try & hear them before buying because WUHAN china has some inconsistency in their making reflecting in their sound.

I'm glad you're going with the same setup as I have, you'll going to like it coz it's very comfy :-)

I like them too, strange size I must admit coz 12 - 13 - 14 are close size and it doesn't seem to get unanimity preference. I'd like maybe add an 8" but not in near future.

Very beautiful kit...

Are those Aquarians 1 ply or 2?

but i noticed in one of the pictures there are orbs floating around in the way...Is your house haunted??? Just kidding...
Thank's a lot, my heads are mismatched, I mean they are one ply on my rack toms and two ply on my floor toms.

The orbs floating are "ghost" notes flying around ! Ah ! Ah ! Ah !

I got this poster from someone who found it in the trash and I found it cool but I never heard COB back then (I have some mp3 of them now) and it remind me my teenage time 20 & + years ago when I listened to Slayer, Destruction and Bathory...

Hi everybody, here's an update !!!

It was about time I replace my el-cheapo hi-hat cymbals for decent ones. Last week I won the bid (eBay) on a pair of 13" regular istanbul mehmet w/ flat holes bottom for 107$ usd

I wanted something a la sabian HH fusion and this is probably near that sound or Zildjian K mastersound, moreover now I have my own unique hi-hat sound since these are rare and not available anymore. I bouht them without really heard them (except on cymbalsonly.com) but I thought they would not be worst than those I have now.

Now people prepare yourself for mature subject pictures ahead (kleenex not include) !

Very nice indeed. Big, but still looks comfy enough.
