Default Yamaha DTX400K Hi-Hat Question(s)

Greetings:

Considering my ability and needs, this kit is ideal for me. I purchased it one year ago and was forced to return it due to hi-hat problems. It may have been the pedal or the module - I don't know. I'm now considering giving this kit a second try, though wary of potential hi-hat problems.

1) I played the kit in a local store yesterday and noted the hi-hat pedal producing multiple "chk" sounds (two, sometimes three) when I depressed the pedal once. Could this be a setting or sensitivity issue?

2) Are there known issues regarding the hi-hat for this kit? I know there is another pedal I can use, but the one provided will suffice, assuming it can be set to work as desired. If it's just a matter of settings, I can live with it.

Thanks,

L
