Default Songs/Bands With Booze Content

We've had a thread about favourite alcohol highs, and we've had a thread about songs referencing bands or musicians.

Listening to a Joe Bonamassa performance of a Rory Gallagher song this weekend, I realised that there's a lot of music about booze. It's slightly ironic, and a bit sad when you realise how many people who sang about demon liquor were carried off by it.

Sloe Gin - Rory Gallagher
One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer - John Lee Hooker
You Know I'm No Good - Amy Winehouse (references Tanqueray gin and Stella Artois beer)
Tequila - The Champs
Red Red Wine - Neil Diamond/UB 40
All I Wanna Do - Sheryl Crow ("I like a beer buzz, but it's early in the morning")
Have Some Madeira M'Dear - Flanders and Swann (I'd bet money that Madge knows this one!)

Bottoms up!

My favorite booze song is "I Drink Alone" by George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
All the lyrics are essentially a hilarious play on words of various booze brands.

Other songs:
"Suicide Solution" by Ozzy (oddly, a song about trying to give up booze)

"Jack" by AC/DC which while about STD, also doubles as an ode to Jack Daniels.

"How Ever Much I Booze" by The Who (also about trying to stop drinking)

"Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty.

"Mas Tequila" by Sammy Hagar

"Cabo Wabo" by Van Halen.

"High and Dry" and "Me and My Wine" by Def Leppard.

Led Zepplin "Gong to California" (Spent my days with a woman unkind, Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine)

The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" (I woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer)

I was in a band a few years back that was called My Favorite Drunks. That's all we played: songs about drinks, drinking, drunks... whatever. We played a number of songs that have already been mentioned. There is is no shortage of material, if that's what you want to play.

When I first auditioned, they described the band as "the perfect bar band", because that's all they played. I thought it was a good idea at the time. But I remember playing in a bar one night, and the singer was doing his typical patter between songs, basically acting like he was a drunk (which he wasn't), and kinda glorifying that lifestyle. Meanwhile, I could see the real-life drunks sitting at the bar drinking. They weren't there to hear our band. They were there to drink. And I bet they were there on those same stools night after night drinking. That's when I realized that what we were doing was actually pretty effed up, and shortly after that I quit the band.

I would have to submit Alestorm and Lagerstein to this list for obvious reasons.

Yep, the lyric is "She's got the jack". Still, alcohol is strongly associated with playing card games :)
