This DW Tiger Finish kit, from the estate of Mitch Mitchell. Came with a Slingerland snare drum, full complement of hardware, and Zildjian cymbals. It doesn't appear that Mitch ever played it, since it still has the DW heads with not a mark on them. It's the first kit I've bought myself since the first kit I bought myself some five years ago when I first started taking lessons and playing.

Hmmm. Nice deep power toms! I love them! It's funny that so many people despise them because they sound so good.

You lucky dog!
That's a rare Rosewood exotic finish kit with the mini lugs reserved mostly for endorsers.
I have this 6.5x14 Rosewood snare and it's not going anywhere!

Ludwig Heirloom 5.5x14 stainless steel.
Superb drum. Crisp, extremely sensitive, power and cut when you want it. The stock Remo Ambassador heads are very nice, although I prefer a Ludwig Weathermaster snare side.

Beautiful kit there rdb.

My latest purchase is the Pearl RedLine single bass pedal with strap drive. Sold my DW 9000, also for Christmas my wife surprised me with a Yamaha EAD 10.

Absolutely fantabulous! Those mini lugs...DW needs to put those on all their lines. really makes those shells pop.

I don't see a downside for them if they offered those lugs to customers as an option, like the coloured hardware, grain orientation and finish.

The mini lugs were briefly offered as an option but they have no swivel nuts... the lugs themselves are threaded for the tension rods and people were cross-threading the lugs when they changed heads. They were screwing the tension rods back in crooked. DW had to replace many lugs because of this and as a result, withdrew them as an option for the regular customers and only offered them to endorsers.
I like the Collector's lugs and the smaller Performance Series lugs. I wish DW would offer the Performance lugs on Collector's drums.

Interesting to know and can see how the replacements caused them some pain. I actually donít mind any of their lugs, but man those small ones look sweet.

Picked up another Rockn Roller Cart for my bandmates ( an R2 model) so they will stop "borrowing" my R8 Rock Roller Cart. These are one of the best drum purchases I have ever made. My back loves these carts.

Thank you all for the additional information about that Tiger finish and those mini lugs. I didn't know there was anything "special" about them (besides that I like the way they look). Guess I need to be careful with those mini lugs. I've got the kit now set up as my practice kit. It's a tight space so hard to get pictures.

What suspension mounts? Even with the beauty of those Unix drums, I couldnít peel my eyes away from the JN snares. A TKO, Luminary and Conquered?

Haven't been on in a while lol. But since November I have gathered a few good things, and not just drums.
Picked up a stage custom birch kit, in natural, 20 inch kick.
Add on 8 inch tom and clamp, and heads all around.
Pork Pie drum throne.
Then a small army of guitar effects and a pedalboard.
A 70s Carvin bass amp. Head and 2x15 cab.
A 70s Carvin PA. 2 cabs with 2 10s and a 12 each.
A 70s Randall 4x10 guitar amp. (Needs work)
A 59 Magnatone amp. (needs work, and can sell it a grand more than I payed without fixing it)
Mics and cables galore.

I can outfit a whole band now lol. And put on shows without relying on venues!

Meinl Byzance 22in Traditional Med Ride, my first Meinl and I am loving it. Semi dark tone with clear stick definition plus a beautiful wash that doesn't get out of hand but adds a fullness to the sound. It's also probably the prettiest cymbal I own. Bought used for $328 and is flawless, does not look to have been played much, could pass as new. At 2998 grams I wasn't sure how it would crash but it does great with a good amount of wobble on the edge when you lay into it. Has a great feel too with enough give to be gentle on the hand's. Bell is loud and piercing but sounds great, the only other 22in I own is a HHX Omni and this seems to be considerably louder.

Thatís an excellent find. I love that Meinl series. They do tend to have nice bells. Congrats

Cherry Hill Drums black walnut beater w/ felt insert (the one on the right). This will go nicely with a certain segmented walnut snare drum that is en route from England. ;-)

Some Evans tone rings. It sucks that they don't include a 16" but my Remo set covered that.

I think I prefer clear over white.

Put off ordering sticks for 2 weeks (had 3 left and my memory is shit.. kept forgetting til i sat down at the kit) Ended up going online friday to order them.. ended up ordering a full set of batter and reso heads.. forgot the damn sticks. WTF?! (btw.. love sam ash.. stuff in stock and cheaper than MF)

Ended up using a pair of 2b's i have laying around. my god.. they are like baseball bats.. i coulnd't feel anything and tiny hits sounded like i took full swings with a hammer.. i don't know how people use them.

P.S. switching my toms from coated 2 plys to classic clears (1 ply clear) can't wait to see how they sound :)

spleeeeen--awesome segmented Guru Walnut snare! Absolutely gorgeous. Congrats!

I just acquired this Noble & Cooley Walnut SS Classic 7" X 14" snare.
I had a Noble & Cooley Maple snare in this size in the 90's that I had
to let go and I always regretted that decision.

The backstory is that Nick Jones at Noble & Cooley called dibs on this
Walnut blank to build a personal snare. On their first run of SS Walnut
snares they ran one blank short of completing an order for a vendor so
Nick donated his blank to the cause and this is that snare: #24 of 24
of the first Walnut run.

It has more of a red hue but still has that dark Walnut coloration that
transitions to white around the lower bearing edge and the kerf joint.
