Default Snare resonant head

I have decided on using the remo coated emperor X as my batter snare head. Now what would be a good resonant head with that kind of batter? I like having my snare drum tuned high. I can't really explain it but primarily the sound that the snare drum gets in the song (Blue Highway) by Billy idol in the VH1 Storytellers album live.

again, the example you quote is a processed studio sound.
a standard snare side head is a Evans Hazy 300, or Remo Snare Side head, it will get you many sounds.

100% agree. I love the Emp X and with an Ambassador SS it can rock (if you are using a steel snare drum)

Remo snare side heads are generally diplomat 2mil or ambassador 3mil. I always use ambassador snare side. I do not know what the equivalent heads are from Evans or Aquarian. For me the diplomat snare side is too thin and doesn't resonate enough. On the batter I use PS3 which is ambassador weight. The PS4 which is an emperor is bit too dead to me. I would think the emperor x which is even thicker would be a real tone killer. I use the PS3/Amb SS setup on my three snares 14" maple, 13" bronze, and 10" maple.
