Default Notation question

Looking at CCR "Born on the Bayou" here -

http://www.songsterr.com/a/wsa/creed...um-tab-s5124t5

What are the little arches underneath the kick and snare hits? Are they some kind of tied notes?

I'm assuming, as it's tablature, that the ties are there to show you that the notes are a full quarter note value, and not an eight note like the beaming suggests.

Do yourself a favor though, and stop reading tab like that. You'll never see that in a working situation.

That's an interesting hybrid of tabs and proper notation, I wonder if it would help tab readers to better understand notation?

Adam's right though, you won't see tabs for drums in a pro situation (although guitar/bass players may use them at times.)

Who wants to get some t-shirts designed that say "Guitarists read tablature, drummers read music" ?
