I telly you what annoys me is people asking me what freakin' annoys me. Naw just kidding. Gosh trashing the self taught drummers Moon and Bonham I noted-dang. Dennis Chambers and Buddy Rich were also self taught-and a whole bunch of others like Anon la Ply.

Funny I had a student examine the effects of synthetic estrogen at levels found in nature on tail fin regeneration in Zebra fish (it hampered it). It does strange things to their behavior too and feminizes males. But there are also natural phytoestrogens that are naturally in the water too. Stuff is everywhere-like eggplant is rich in nicotine-but nicotine enhances memory and seems to reduce Alzheimer's. Hey that brings up another thing that really annoys me-OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL!. LOL. Oh the irony.

I had a friend who had dyslexia when I was working on my Master's degree. She was able to accommodate to her condition and did really well in school-better than I. I was reading an article stating as much as a third of the population have cognitive defects that have yet to be detected. I also have a bipolar friend who is just absolutely brilliant and she goes off her meds to be brilliant-she states her meds depress her creativity. Gosh life is filled with two edged swords isn't it. I've always admired people with the gift of writing-(I am not talking grammatical-look at Huck Finn), but I mean bringing a story to life.

Another thing that annoys me is people who post three times in a row. Rambling on and on. Good golly. People who say good golly are annoying too.

Fitting Jim? Do you mean fighting? Or is it more correct to ask don't you mean fighting. Should I have ended that last sentence with a question mark? Not sure. You did mention fisticuffs earlier in the post. I'm afraid you've left yourself wide open.

No no, fitting, as in throwing one. I've been known to throw one from time to time; fits, the bull, you know, the usual suspects...

But you know what reeeeaaallly annoys me? It's this damn iPad keyboard that makes me perform a function shift every time I need an apostrophe, not to mention the auto-correct which more often than not would better be described as auto-error.

That, and people who think they're as funny as me. I mean really, who the heck do they think they are? Geez Louise, it's (another damned apostrophe shift thing $&@!) getting so that every Larry and his uncle think they're ($&@! I gotta stop using contractions) some manner of wordsmith with an overactive funny bone. It is killing me!

Now do you see what I did there at the end? That's the mark of a genius.

Surely the only time I will be mentioned in the same sentence as Buddy and Dennis!

Jo jo Mayer, Chris Cutler, Ginger Baker, Dave Lombardo (and a fair few other eminent metal drummers) are self taught, plus a lot of the more simple players didn't take lessons, eg. Mick Fleetwood, Simon Kirke, Ringo, Charlie Watts, Phil Rudd and Paul Thompson.

I'm not annoyed by trained players putting self taught drummers down. It doesn't matter. As they say, opinions are like, um, anuses ...

Jim the illumination of your genius is uncontested. But it's your dashing good looks that makes me so envious! Please forgive my pedestrian knowledge of common verbiage. Worth fitting over...I admit that use of the word has heretofore eluded me...(hit's forehead with heel of palm...Stupid Stupid!) I try and learn something new everyday, and this qualifies as today's. Thank you sir for expanding my horizons. (I have a feeling you will be hearing that a lot from me) I know none of us are worthy, but with your patience, kindness and tolerance, you may single-handedly raise the baseline intellectual bar around here.

Long live JimFiore! He has arrived!

This is still from April Fools Day, Right?

Sounds to me as if Jim should have been on Last English Teacher Standing. Or maybe a substitute on Shark Tank when Mr. Wonderful, his self named character, was out for any reason.

Might as well call this like it is...it's nothing less than the beginning of the JimFiore era here at DrummerWorld.

A paradigm shift. A constant improvement. The rebounding of currency. These are just some of the things that can be expected in this new era of prosperity and enlightenment...aka the JimFiore era! One filled with promise and hope, so that our children will inherit a more intelligent, funnier, and economically richer future. All thanks to our own JimFiore!

(said like Eddie Murphy) What a happy, happy day!

I hear you. Have a nice day is another. If it was prefaced with "I hope you" that's much better. As it is, in an effort to be pleasant, they are actually ordering you around.

How about when a server says, I'll take that whenever you're ready.

How's next Tuesday at 7 sound?

With you Mike. It's negative, as if problems were the norm.

I remember seeing a billboard for a Buick dealer. In huge letters it said:

If you're not satisfied
We're not satisfied.

All I see is not satisfied

Oh I agree. Go to the store and say thank you at the register, which they should be saying to begin with, and they say "no Problem" Well I certainly hope not since I just paid your wages.

How about when entering a building you hold the door open for the person behind you and they don't acknowledge it, as if you're their servant? Sometimes I say "you're welcome" after they walk through.

Whatever happened to yeoman pleasantries?

Lol Mike, yes I concede you are the younger better looking one. It was a pleasure to bask in your glow. I was really crabby that day as you can see.

When driving, I like to be courteous and see the other guys plight trying to make lefts. While at a light, I don't block peoples way out of parking lots, I like letting them in. All I ask is that you raise your bleeping hand and acknowledge the kindness I just gave you.

The thing is that I would wager that most people hold some kind of discriminatory views. It's whether or not you realise it and whether or not you let them interfere with your interactions with other people.

I will say that I have particular views that are largely unconscious reactions - but I know what they are and I don't let them get in the way. I certainly never mention them specifically in front of people I don't know and somehow try to justify them. I know they're there, I know they're wrong and I know when they creep into mind; so I push them down.

I raise my hand often while driving... usually at these suspects...

- The person you want to pass who is driving 55 mph, no 63, no 49, no 74. Pick a speed!

- The person turning left or making the U-turn in front of the no left turn or no u turn sign with people, usually me, behind them.

- The person driving 42 on the freeway in the passing lane while texting

- The person who flicks their cigarette butts out of their car windows

- Used to be me - the kids with the booming bass who thinks we all want to hear their woofer.

People that smoke in cars and then throw the cigarette butts out of the window.

Yes, I annoy myself and I'm an enormous hypocrite.

When the lead singer of an opening band comes out on stage and says things like "come on, let me hear you make some noise!"

I just want to say, no.

1) No one here knows who you are yet.

2) No one who paid their admission fee paid it to see you.

So how about you shut up and actually PLAY first.

If your songs are good, and the band is good, you bet the audience will cheer for you.

If you're as good as you think you are, I might even seek out your CD later.

But asking the audience to cheer for you when you haven't done anything yet is absolutely stupid and annoying.

Cigarettes deserve a topic of their own. People who put their butts out in their food...that is the height of disgusting. I just want to hurl when I see that. And the flickers. They flick butts anywhere. Have some responsibility at least and dispose of them properly! Cigarette butts in the beach sand is another thing that makes me ill.

My verbal diarrhea spell is almost over bear with me one more post....

My wife and I were at a wedding a while back. The lead singer of the wedding band started out with "Let me hear some noise" or whatever - I immediately started booing just loud enough for my wife to hear. She promptly elbowed me with a look of horror - to which I replied - "Booing is a noise right?"

That wasn't as funny in print....

PA still allows smoking in restaurants, eh? I visit Michigan once in a while, and the smoking in restaurants really shocks me every time. It's really weird to me.
