Default Trademarking "britpop" ...?

Just happened upon this today:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/25725479

Is this cynical stuff and a "piss-take" ... or is the guy do it for real? (I'm on the wrong side of the pond, so I dunno how to take this story...)

Not that I've ever listened much to Oasis, Blur, etc. ... but it seems to take selling out to a new level. However, part of me thinks - if the guy can make a buck .... so be it.

bling-bling bliiing
bling bling bling bling
.... Wooooo Hooooo

He's got a long way to go before he catches up with Gene Simmons.

On the surface, he's trademarking a name for a beverage which, while taking inspiration from the music world, is just a label for a commercial product. No reason why he wouldn't or shouldn't given the nature of that kind of business.
