Default Post your current and your dream kit with Kitbuilder

Ok. So I get REALLY bored at work. I decided to make my current kit on kit builder, the dream kit it will be when it's finished, and a smaller dreamy kit as well :)

Current:

Pearl Masters Studio. 6 ply Birch. Bronze Glass.
Yamaha Brass Nouveau Snare
Pearl Eliminator Double Pedal
Tama Iron Cobra Hi Hat stand
Pearl Rack and stands
Pork Pie Throne

Cymbals from left to right
Zildjian K Custom 19" Hybrid China
Paiste Signature 14" Sound Edge hats
Paiste Sig. 15" Fast Crash
Zildjian 6.5" Zilbel
Paiste Sig. 16" Full Crash
Paiste Sig. 8" Splash
Paiste Sig. 17" Reflector Full Crash
Paiste Sig. 10" Splash
Paiste Sig. 18" Power Crash
Paiste Sig. 20" Power Ride
Paiste 2002 20" Novo China
Sabian Paragon 19" China

That kit, 3 months from now (All time dream kit, other than the finish):

Custom Snare added
2nd kick drum (only 1 more week!)
Cup chimes
Paiste Sig. 22" Dark Metal Ride
Paiste Sig. 12" Thin China
Pedals are still undecided

A second dream kit I would love to own:

Custom built by me hopefully!
Have no idea what cymbals or hardwear, this is years away.

Ok, so now that I've thuroughly wasted your time, post your current and or dream kit with kit builder (or pics if you already have your desired kit). I want to see what's on everyone's hopeful drum side!

Heres mine, I know the hi hat is off, but I dont have a place to put it. And I don't know what kit it is because I can't decide, nor can I with the cymbals.

That looks intense, man. I tried three floors, and I can't handle it. Especially big ones like that. I would be in a wheel chair by age 30 if I were to twist like that every day.

You really HAVE GOT TO post a thread entirely about your kit man, I am so curious about how it looks from different angles. It's a unique set-up, and I think it's great drum-porn :)

I don't have photos of my current kit, but my set-up is very similar to my dream kit pictured here. I have a PDP (MX series) in emerald green fade with Zildjian cymbals: 13" Newbeat Hi Hats, 20" K Custom Dry Ride, 6" A Custom Splash, 8" A Custom Splash (mounted over the kick), 17" A Series Medium Crash, and a 14" Oriental trash (which is actually on order from a dealer). Someday, though, I dream of getting a four-piece DW kit like this one with a natural wood/lacquer finish. (Sigh)

this is my existing pearl export set with AA and B8 sabians.

my dream set... probably pearl reference with HH, AA and AAX sabians. In reality the four 8" toms would be quarter toms.

the first one is my set up now.it is a CB MX Series that i have tried to make sound half way decent...and i think i have done so...nothing comparing some, but its a CB..ha...cymbal wise i have Sabian B8's. 14" hats, 14" Crash, 16" crash, 20" ride. Sabian XS20 10" splash. and then i have a Wuhan 18" chinese and an old Ziljian 16" rock ride.

For the second is my Dream set..well...mostly...i think ill have a couple ;) .it is more than likely a SJC Custom set. cymbals will be Sabian all the way...besides the Wuhan chinese.
AAX Stage Crash 14". AA Rock Crash 16",18". AA Metal Crash 16". AA raw,dry bell ride 21".
AAX fast hats 14".AA 10" Splash. and then the 18" Wuhan.i want to have DW 9000 pedals and hi-hat stand. and then a Pearl rack system...

Current Kit:
DW
18x22 Bass Drum
12x14 Rack Tom (Sometimes 8x10)
14x16 Floor Tom
6.5x14 Ludwig Supraphonic

Cymbals:
17" Zildjian Thin Crash (1980's Model I think)
18" Zildjian ZBT Crash (Yes it's a cheapy)
20" Zildjian K Custom Ride
14" Zildjian ZBT Hi-Hats (These are cheapy too)

Dream Kit:
Ludwig

All I need to say is Bonham for the shell sizes. Nice round warm tone.

Cymbals:
Paiste
Basically the same as Bonhams.

And a big reason for the Bonham kit is not because of it being his set-up, but because its a great sound. :-D and lets all be honost, he's the man!.lol

I'm going for this, which is basically the setup I got right now, minus the 12x14 tom, the hi-hat on the left, and the wide array of cymbals.

Yes, PLEASE! :D

Anyway, I still haven't decided what my "dream" kit would be. It seems to change every time I decide to play around with the kitbuilder. However, I'm currently just working on my gigging kit. I do have some pretty much finalized plans for it.

Currently:

Tama Rockstar drums
20x16, 14x12, 10x9
12x5.5 Artwood snare

Sabian cymbals
20" AA medium ride
18" AA china
18" B8 crash
13" B8 hats
10" AA splash

Plans:

Mapex Pro-M or Saturn (haven't decided yet)
20x16, 14x14, 10x8
12x5.5 Artwood snare, unless I find something else I like

Sabian Cymbals
20" AA ride
18" AA china
18" HHX Evolution O-Zone crash
18" HHX Stage crash
13" AAX Stage hats
10" AA splash
8" or 6" hi-hats (not sure what yet, but I want to get two small cymbals to use as "hi-hats" on the right foot)

17" Sabian AA rock crash

Obelisk Drums, (Keller Maple)
Transparent Black Lacquer

14" Sabian Regular Hats
16" A Custom Projection Crash
18" A Custom Projection Crash
20" A Medium Ride

Iron Cobra Single
Tama HH55 Lever Glide Hat Stand
Tama HS70N Snare Stand
Gibraltar Stands w/ ball tilters, 1 x Straight, 1 x Boom w/ counterweight, 1 x Boom, top only clamped to other stand.
Gibraltar GMS tom mount, clamped to cymbal stand.
Mapex AC909 bass drum riser.

LP Tambourine, clamped to Hat stand via Gibraltar SC-DPLAC clamp.

Dixon Throne.

Since the above pic was taken, I've re-skinned with Coated Ambs all around, PS3 on the kick. I've also switched out the snare for mid-70's Acrolite.

Change the 16" A Custom to a 17" and replace the throne with something a little nicer, and I'm happy for life.

Sorry, no crazy dreamtheater style kit here. :)

First one is my "Inept Kit" which is what I use with my pop/punk/rock kind of band.

Second one is "My Kit" which I use for goofing off at home (something I rarely seem to be able to do lately). It includes a second hi hat, with the second pedal angled like that so I can play one with my toe and one with my heel more easily, a second snare (shallower, tuned a bit higher) and an 18" Wuhan china. The ride is a 21" sweet ride, hi hats are 15" sweet hats and 13" K custom top with Z Custom dyno beat bottom. Crashes are 17" and 19", models pending. Possibly Sabian, Hopefully Zildjian.

Kit is DDrum USA Custom (one of the first, serial number 13!), all maple. 22x24 kick, 9x13 rack, 16x16 floor, 8x14 snare. Finish is Tangerine Glass, with smoked chrome hardware and black tension rods.

I suppose I don't really have a "dream-kit" to put up here, because I can't imagine playing anything bigger. I'll think about it. :)

This is the kit I use most often. I don't know what I would have for a dream kit. I plan on adding a few more Toms and another Kick in a standard size. I wouldn't set them up all at once, but just have them to pick and choose for what gig I am on.

DRUMS: Peace Paragon Maple in Atomic "Fireball" Sparkle
A. 6.5 x 14 Foundry Series Steel Snare (or) 5.5 x 14 Brass with Black Chrome Plating
B. 10 x 12 Tom Tom
C. 12 x 14 Floor Tom
D. 14 x 16 Floor Tom
E. 14 x 26 Bass Drum
F. 12" P.E. Drums Custom Electronic Pad

HARDWARE: Peace Arena 800 Series / DW

CYMBALS: Zildjian
1. 14" Avedis Mastursound Hi Hats
2. 18" Z Custom Med. Crash (or) 19" A Custom Med. Crash
3. 19" Z Custom Med. Crash (or) 20" A Custom Projection Crash
4. 19" Z Custom Med. Crash (or) 20" A Custom Med. Crash
5. 21" Z Custom Mega Bell Ride
6. 18" Oriental China Trash

PERCUSSION: Factory Metal Percussion
Custom Hi Hat Jingler

The first one is my current kit, the drums are tama SC performer in camo, the bottom tom is a premier resonator in black, the snare is a santafe custom snare in camo as well but not fabric this time.

As for the bottom pic, that's my ideal kit right now. The drums are pretty self explanatory, i was thinking of buying some highwood drums and covering them in camoflage fabric. Dunno about the snares, but the side will be wood with the main being brass. The hihat pedal would be a DW9000 series 2 leg and an AXIS A longboard double pedal.

As for the cymbals:

A- zildjian A custom splash 8"
B- A custom projection hats 14"
C- 17" A custom medium crash
D- 10" A custom splash
E- 12" zildjian mini china
F- 22" paiste RUDE Ride/Crash
G- 18" A custom medium crash
H- 18" Paiste RUDE novo china

Current:

As for a "dream kit", I don't really have one specific setup. What I'd like to have is a top-quality set of drums that will allow me to choose a setup based on what I feel like (something like all tom sizes from 8" to 18" (probably excluding the odd sizes, 11", 13" and 15"), a couple of different sized kick drums, probably 18" and 22", a few great snare drums and a large assortment of cymbals (Zildjian, of course ;-) ). I'm currently really digging the one-up, two-down setups I see, so right now I'd love to have one of those (probably 22" kick with 12", 14" and 16" toms), but that might change next month. What's definitely part of my ultimate dream setup, though, is a full set of top-quality microphones running through a dedicated mixer that I can have sitting beside me, allowing me to create my own drum mix and sound to send to the soundboard, Dave Weckl-style.
