Default Yamaha maple custom remove sparkle?

Gentlemen,
Anyone eith experience doing this? Considering converting my kit to 'natural' finish. It has to be one of the original finishes: 'vintage natural' or 'matte natural'.
Sanding down the sparkle, will it be hard to get one of the original natural finishes?

Thx,
davelarue

Personally I would not do this...if you want a natural finish sell yours and purchase one with that finish...I see them quite often on eBay ...

Have to agree with Scorch here - wouldn't try. I think removing the sparkle will very tricky - I've tried this on a guitar and seen others try and do it. Results were....well, the instruments were ruined.
Unless you really know what you're doing...sell them to someone like me who loves sparkle finishes and buy yourself a natural finish kit....there are several MCAN kits on eBay right now...

There is no telling what type of veneer is the last ply next to the wrap and it may look like crap after all of the work. There is no need to put a great ply on the outside then cover it with wrap. Any glue that sticks will peel the veneer off. As above sell it and look for a natural finish set

Unanimous - don't do it. Odds are you'll ruin it.
This is one of those times when it's better to sell to get what you're after.

Thought this was answered before(?).

MAPLE CUSTOM ABSOLUTE sparkle finishes are not wraps/plys, they're sprayed on lacquers.

Unless you have a MAPLE CUSTOM set that's been plastic wrapped, the finish is going to look seamless because it is, they're all hand sprayed works of art.

Trying to remove the sparkle from MAPLE CUSTOM ABSOLUTE would be like trying to remove a lacquer finish, first off pointless b/c you'll most likely end up ruining the shell and the effort needed would be crazy.

Here is the O.P. original Topic :
"Gents,
I'v got a blue sparkle yamaha maple custom absolute. It's a beautiful kit, but i'v been wanting a 'matte natural' finish for a while now. Instead of selling/buying, which involves loosing money, i'd like to use the kit i already have.
Question is:
- How hard is it to remove the blue sparkle wrap, and get this finish?"

Of course.. notice the last part about a wrap. Never seen a Yamaha MCA with a blue sparkle wrap. Hmmmm ???
