Default Brand New '80-'81 Acrolite

Hey everyone, first time post.

I need your opinion. A guy here in Minnesota has not one, but two BRAND NEW, never played acrolites with the original stands that he bought at an estate sale from a guy that was a music teacher at a high school. They are still in the original boxes with all the packaging. All inspection tags, plastic wrap, drum key and even the Ludwig sticks. These babies have never had one stroke on them.

He wants $200 each and he is firm on the price.
I've searched all over the internet I have never seen a brand new acrolite this old.

The serial #'s are 2140526 and 2227163 which dates them around '80-'81 in guessing.

I'm going to see him tomorrow morning and I'm grabbing one for sure. Do you think I should grab both of them?
Does the price seems fair?

Here is a link for one of them.

Thanks for your help

What are you crazy?
Why are you wasting time posting this question instead of spending time buying those snares?

$200 certainly seems fair, for an unplayed Acrolite. These drums are easily found on eBay. And while $200 would be high for a used drum, these are NOS. But I wouldn't grab both. (I'll assume your idea would be to flip one). The date on the posting is 8-19-13. If it was that killer of a deal, these drums would be gone, already.

I would buy them both and put one on eBay for a 10 day auction ending on a Sunday evening 930 pm EST, but that's just me.

The guy is retired and just buys things here and there and he told he would hold them for me. I think it's too hard not to buy both of them. I see no downside.

Great price and you can not go wrong with an Acrolite.

The fact that they are in the original packaging...surely that must be worth something to a collector. I don't see how you could lose. I'd snag them. Then I would donate them back to the school district they were probably pilfered from. Yea.

Those drums are 'hot'... stolen or hoarded from a school music program in 1983. Bad karma no? Just think of the kids who did not get a snare that year.

$200 seems a fair price out of the box.

Here is the big score! They're just like you would imagine, in perfect mint condition. He also tossed in an old Ludwig wood block and 3 sets of never used original Ludwig 2B sticks. The first set of pics is the drum and stand I'm going to keep and the rest are of the other snare and stand that has never been out of the plastic and the stand box has never been opened. Does anyone know what the B.F. stands for on the snare box?
