Default An Hero's Intro

Hello Drummer World!

I've been playing since 2000/2001, with some time off during university. In that time I've played in a punk band (highschool), played drums & percussion for two musicals (Uni), provided backline and played as house drummer at a local open-mic (ongoing), and have had the opportunity to play to an empty ACC with Billy Talent during their soundcheck (this year).

I come from mostly pop, punk, rock, and funk (and variations/mixes of the three). Within the last year or so I've been exploring big band swing as I find its energy incredible fun.

As of right now I'm playing a Tama Starclassic Performer (100% Birch) in Gold/Orange Glitter & Black Nickel hardware with an array of Sabian plates. Go-to snare drums are the Pearl Tico Torres Sig (14x6.5 FF 3mm cast Aluminum) and a 14x7 Yamaha Oak Custom.

I really enjoy messing around with different setups and seeing what I like or don't like. I do have two go-to setups, both are shown in the outdoor pictures below.

And without further ado, here is the drum pr0n...

Welcome!

That's awesome you got to soundcheck with Billy Talent! They're easily one of my favorite bands!

Beautiful kit. I think I have found my new hearts desire. That orange sparkle wrap is tits!

Love the pics of the Billy Talent soundcheck. Even playing to an empty house would have been really cool!

thanks for the porn!

Thanks guys. Soundchecking with BT was a fantastic experience. Even though it was mostly empty, just playing up on the big stage to the arena was a lot of fun.

Well, originally from near Thunder Bay, but I live in Toronto/Hamilton now. Great little blog you have going by the way.
