Default Tama Speed Cobra help

My left bass pedal is making the beater go back away from the bass head, instead of hitting it. Anyone know what's up?

Is the chain on the right side of the pedal?

This problem used to happen to me, when a single pedal was flipped all the way around. I've never had it happen to a single pedal of a double pedal set.

How far back is the beater? If you have it at too great an angle, that can happen.
