Default hi hat foot pedal

I'm very confused as to what is happening, my hi hat pedal droops and I can't get it to stay all the way up. This makes it so I can only have the top hi hat cymbal and bottom hi hat cymbal very close together. How do I get the spring to go all the way up? It is only capable of keeping cymbals that are insanely close together closed.

Default Re: hi hat foot pedal

Depending on what make/model hi hat stand you have, there should be an adjustment for spring tension, usually down near the base, just above the pedal linkage.

What make/model do you have? Photos?
