Default Upgraded to DTX502 module and some pads not working

I just got back into drumming after a 30 year hiatus. Bought a DTX 400K kit because I was just going to dabble. Naturally, I upgraded as much as I could once I got hooked (cost more than if I had just bought the higher module). I bought a DTX 502 module since I want to eventually upgrade to chokable 3-zone cymbals, a real high hat stand and the DTX pads (all the stuff I convinced myself I didn't need when I bought the first kit<sigh>). Now I can't get two of my three cymbals to make any sound at all. I have one PY90 hooked up to the aux port on my KP65 tower but all it does is make the kick sound when struck (on the 400K it I could assign any voice to it). The second crash , which is a mono pad, has only mini-plugs and in order to hook it up to the new module , which is all 1/4" , I need to use a y-splitter adapter that has two female miniplugs to a single male mini plug which I then plug into a mini-1/4" adapter (I know). I'm convinced that the extra adapter is the problem. The stereo input for the toms will work with a Y-adapter according to Yamaha but it must be a two mono-single stereo adapter. The guys at the source look at me like I'm from Mars and the local music shop doesn't follow either. Any suggestions? Must I absolutely use a Y-adapter of two mini-plugs to a single 1/4" jack? Help (apologies for the long winded question).

Start by checking each component and each input to see if any individual pad, cymbal or input is not working. If all okay, then start with the standard connection setup. If all still okay, start testing with the Y splitters etc. Could be that you are causing the issue with splitters and changing the voltage or something like that. You may have compromise your wishes to the capability of the equipment.

Sorted it out finally. It would be nice if the instruction book was somewhat clear to understand.
