Default Alternative mounting for a 14x16?

All, ...
Thinking of adding a second 14x16, not adding the legs for a floor tom and doing an 'alternative' mount for it? Think; 'gong bass' style mounting?

Is there a snare stand alternative? Or, maybe a tom stand alternative?

Thoughts?

Anyone else do this?

Thanks

Default Re: Alternative mounting for a 14x16?

I've mounted various 16" toms on my touring kit with RIMS for 20 years.

The key with that size drum is to make sure the mount itself is sturdy enough to support the weight from a single point. I'm still using my original Pearl arm & mount (and RIMS plate & cradle) from 1993, and have had no slippage or other issues.

Obviously you need either a rack, or heavy-duty stand to support the drum.
