Default Too small of a pedal spring and rocker

I recently bought a new pedal spring cuz my other one broke. It turned out to be too big and now I can't return it. Is there anything I can do to make it tighter and not allow it to slip off? In the picture, the one on the right is the new, big one.

I would just look for a smaller spring.

If you really wanted to modify something, you could take a die set, and cut out threads the rest of the way up the adjustment post, so you can tighten it further. That seems like the best way to do it, to me.
