Default Name this Zildjian Crash/Splash

It came with a 60s Ludwig Blue Sparkle kit that I bought yesterday.

It's 12".

It's stamped - 60s / 70s A. Stamp is on the bell side up.

Bent from the bell, opposite orientation.

Never saw one before until now.

Someone? Anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Imma go with 12" splash that someone inverted by force. Zildjian, to my knowledge, never made a cymbal that looked like that intentionally.

I'd support it in several places near the edge on covered bricks or something, bell side down, and see if you can pop it back into shape.

Or use it as-is, as a novelty. LOL

Even the original owner is puzzled the way the cymbal is. He said he bought that way.

Doesn't look like it was bent by force. Weird but sounded pretty good.

I'm just curious. Pretty cool though.

It absolutely looks like it was inverted, like a hi-hat that was popped by too much force on the pedal. He probably got it that was after it was popped and didn't know to unpop it. Just carefully unpop it and it'll probably sound okay again.

I've seen thin hi hat cymbals inverted like that, and I've seen cymbals stepped on that also inverted like that, but nore that were purposely made that way.

But I've also never seed an upside down stamp like that.Odd duck that.

Odd.

The cymbal sounds like a mini china. Pretty cool effects.

I'll leave it the way it is. It could have been a reject or have been altered, but it's all good!

Thanks.

I was going to joke that you could make a hat out of it, and did a search for 'sombrero hi hats'.
Turns out Zildjian did make such a thing fairly recently, but the one you have looks older, and isn't shaped the same.

I had a cheap Sabian B8 Pro 10" china splash that was given to me a little whole ago. I didn't care for the sound of it, but it looked quite similar to that cymbal. But personally, I don't think Zildjian ever made anything like that, so I'm guessing too that someone inverted it.

Sombrero hat would be sweet!

Whatever they did to it, they did it well, no cracks or sharp bends.

I used to have a pair of cheap hi-hats that would invert like that once in a while. It never seemed to do them any harm and they never showed any marks or anything from it. I just popped them back and played on...
