Default Mapex AC906 Hi-Hat Attachment Clamp

Hello,

I recently got a MAPEX Hi-Hat to Bass Drum Attachment Clamp (AC906), for my Meridian Double Bass setup.
Only after playing the setup for a few hours i realized that the Clamp has "Developed" these marks on the inner edge of the Bass Drum HOOP, like scratches.
So, it kinnda worries me whether the Clamp would CRACK/EAT-UP the Hoop eventually??
i play Heel-Up btw...
Any TIPS on protecting the hoop from the damage caused?

Thanks....

I'm not sure why you need a clamp for a three legged hihat stand.

Hi,

Hope you aren't kidding me... ! :D
I need the clamp so that the Hi-Hat remains in "reach" while playing my DOUBLE BASS DRUM Setup!
Isn't that for what this clamp was designed??

Several companies sell various sorts of bass drum hoop guards and protectors. They normally go under the toe clamps of kick pedals, but would certainly not hurt for this application.

This is probably your only real option. Of course, you can really cut up most any soft material and glue it to the inside of the clamp to have it protect against further damage.

I've used thick rubber or soft plastic to wrap top and bottom edge of hoop when I previously attached a DW pedal. Yeah man, them clamps will eat through your hoops faster than a beaver.

I use that rubber baseboard trim normally found in bathrooms that forms a seal between wall and floor. You can get it at the local home improvement store.

Hey!!
Thanks for the replies... I've used some rectangular pieces of LEATHER (~Cut outs from an old leather belt) that i've glued well to the hoops.

But, recently i figured out a better way of removing the HI-HAT Attachment Clamp from the hoop..

Posting a pic...

Now the clamp is attached to another stand and hence, no issue of it damaging my Bass Hoop.. !!
As far as the PEDALS are concerned, i'll go with the HOOP PROTECTOR and those leather pieces.

Thanks for all the help.

Regards.. :)
