Default TD-3 - Hi-hat open/close sound

Hello guys
I have a TD-3 module, a PD-8 pad as the hi-hat, and FD-8 hi-hat controller.
I am unable to get a distinct loud chick sound (open/close) when I press/release the controller with my foot.

Will upgrading to CY-5 help? Is that compatible with the old TD-3 module?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default Re: TD-3 - Hi-hat open/close sound

It's controller that's responsible for chicks/footsplashes, not cymbal.
So, CY5 won't help there (although it feels better than PD8 for hh cymbal).

Check your manual.

Quote:
Adjusting the Hi-Hat’s Foot Closed Level
The volume of the sound played when pressing the hi-hat control pedal can be adjusted.

1. Be sure the POWER is OFF, then hold down [LEVEL/PAN] and turn on the power.
“Pedal Modify” appears in the scroll display, then the Foot Closed level is indicated, and [LEVEL/PAN] flashes.

2. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the Foot Closed level.
Value:
0–15
(initial value: 10)

TIP: When adjusting the OVERALL hi-hat volume, follow the instructions in “Instrument Volume & Pan [LEVEL/PAN]” (p. 25).

3. When you’re finished, press [DRUM KIT]; the [LEVEL/PAN] light goes off.
Do not turn off the power without the [LEVEL/PAN] light having gone out. Otherwise you will lose the changes you have just made.
