Here is a photo of the pedal with the beater bent so that the beater is 90 deg
I used a Hart Dynamics Inverted Beater and bent the beater end to be 90 deg so that the beater is parallel to the kick batter.
I wish the bend area was further down the shaft s the beater did not have to hit the kick above center. This also somewhat nullifies the effect of the offset but it still works well.
A side benefit is that when inserted the bottom of the beater rod actually stops the pedal from coming back all the way.
Yes there is a bit less power but not a big deal to me. Just turned the kick mic up a bit.
