Default Percusson questions

I'm in a classic rock band and one cool thing about classic rock is that they used a heck of a lot of percussion. I've managed to get a similar sound with some basic tricks - jingle ring, mambo beats, etc - but there are some songs that have very specific sounds and seem empty without them. I'm hoping there are some tricks I can use to get them.

For example, "Spill the Wine" has a very prominent guiro sound (I think it's a guiro). But there's also a two-handed drum beat going on. Is there a way to attach a guiro to a foot-driven device to get this sound?

Another one is "Tin Man" by America, which has a bell sound in some of the verses - like a small bell on a string. Is this a standard percussion instrument, or just an off-the-shelf bell?

Thanks!
