Default Another Recording Custom date question?

I just picked up a pre yess RC set "EBAY" and with the dating guide I come up with the floor as a 82 and the 2 toms and bass as 83. Here's the ? The guy I got them from said he bought them new in 96, they look like there pretty new except under the camera flash. I've never had RC's and was just looking for a matched set to play the clubs instead of my maple customs. I started reading the posts here about the early ones being thinner and having the bearing edges stained. The bearings on these look to me darker and show some spots of stain in places. Can anybody say for sure if these are the thinner shell as compared to the later ones, if so I might not be dragging them around into the clubs. It looks like either the stain was put on sloppy or they made an attempt to remove it. The floor has RCR, not sure what that means but it is the oldest. I set one next one of my maple customs to compare the wood color, and they are much darker. the toms measure just under a 1/4 " or 7mm and the bass is about 10mm all seem to be 6 ply. Any comments and insight would be appreciated, thanks

According to that they didn't start making RC' s until 81, there is no letter to represent 0 "1980", so would that make my floor the 2nd year they were made? I've seen some posts that refer to the RF as meaning "rock fusion" I would think it stands for "recording fusion" which is what my 12 and 13 are.

For sure, those are not the early RC's with the thinner shells and stained edges. The early shells with stained edges would be totally glossy black. Your edges are obviously natural. The early shells also had a more rounded bearing edge.

The early shells were RA, the next generation were RC. You have RF, which I believe are power depths. Do you have a 12x10 or 13x11 tom for example? Those sizes weren't made in the earliest days.

Go ahead and gig with them and enjoy them. I'm sure you'll love them.
