Default Evans Genera 200 head too big?

I am building my own snare, and put a Genera 200 snare side head on it for the first time. when I cranked it down, I noticed that the head pulls further down on the shell than the strata 1000 on the batter side. In fact, it sets down more than a quarter inch farther than the batter, and really looks weird from the side. The hoop is almost touching the the bottom of the throw off. I put one on my acrolite and it does the same thing. a closer examination of he head shows tha tit has more material between the flesh hoop and where the head seats than on the batter head. anyone else notice this problem?

I've had a similar problem with my 8" tom, see for yourself. But I'd say my issue was because of faulty drum design, not the drum head.

My 300 sits this way on my snare. I thought it looked weird too but honestly I have had zero issues with it. I don't really examine the bottom of my snare very often, and I probably change my reso heads once every three years or so.

And this might be off topic, but apart from the way the Evans sit, I have noticed no difference between any snare-side head from any brand.

@Mandrew-

When the snare side counter hoop is on the drum, is it bottoming out? That's a tell-tale sign if there's any major issue that needs to be addressed. Do you have any photos that you could share to help illustrate the situation?

Thanks!

Attached are two pictures. There is barely 3/16" of the hoop showing. It is not particularly tight, about 85 on the drum dial. The hoop is now just touching the bottom of the P-86 throwoff, which is dead center on the 5" shell. It sounds Oknow, but there is no more room to play with if I need to tighten. I had the same issue with my acrolite.

I would take it back to the store and look at another one. If they all are the same, try another brand. Take the drum with you. Sorry Evans fans, of which I am one.

That's definitely not supposed to happen. I wonder if maybe the outer diameter of the shell is a bit smaller than standard, and therefore the head is wrapping around it more, and bottoming out faster. Please PM me with your address and I'll swap the heads for you.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

The shell is a standard Keller 14x5. it is the exact diameter of my Ludwig Acrolite.
