Snare: steel v aluminium v brass v bronze

Hi drummers,

I'm going to buy a new snare next month, but I have some doubts about it.

I'm searching for a nice cracked sound, like a shotgun sound or a popcorn sound.

For instanse, I'm searching for a Carter Beauford's (Ants Marching) or a Jonh Blackwell's snare sound. Loud, warm and cracked.

So, I'd ike to know the diferences between these diferent types of metal: steel, brass, bronze and aluinium. What are the characteristics of these metals? What snare do you recommend?
