Here are three great videos explaining a difficult Horacio Hernandez groove, with on screen transcriptions:

This guy is quite awesome, and one of the best drummer websites i've seen. Great to know there are UK drummers out there giving the Americans a run for their money. Shows me how far i've got to go too. Thanks for the discovery korompay.

Good stuff Korompay!
I like the 9-note hand/foot phrasing....

Got any Dave DiCenso...
The licks he does in the clinic section of this site are sick.....

What program are you using to write the trascriptions. Been looking for a good music notation software for a while now.

Never seen this before, so what does that lowest bottom note represent(The one below the lowest stave line in drum &bass chaos part 1)? Second bass drum for double pedal/double bass?

Nice one! I realized that working on a lot of Gadd stuff recently has payed off: I could sight read through that whole thing along with Steve without really loosing it. Well.... maybe skipping a note or two.... even in the fills. I think my reading is better than I thought, hehe.

I really enjoy your stuff, great that you're here and posting. Now how about actually writing some more words - I'm sure plenty of guys would enjoy that as well!

Korompay,
Thanks alot for that transcription!! I tried to transcribe it awhile back but didn't get too far. The problem for me is, I can read it and play it, but have real trouble transcribing it sometimes. Thanks again!!! Keep the Gadd transcriptions coming ;)

I don't have notation software but here is a cool Vinnie Colaiuta lick that's played around 3:32 in this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO5lfO2EXU8 . It presents a cool concept - being able to change up the time feel through displacement, rhythmic surprise, and accents.

it's simply:
sssb sSsb sSsb flam. S means accent, s is a ghost note. these are sixteenth notes.

if you haven't seen the vid, don't be fooled by the apparent simplicity here. the lick flies and over the triplet feel you aren't expecting it AT ALL, especially with the displaced accents that make it feel as if the beat jumped a couple BPMs. i personally think it's a really intelligent fill, as it really sets up the shout section with it's bombastic feel and the way it makes it seem as if the tempo picked up.
