Metronomes - where to mount?

New member here. Hows it going all?! Curious where you are mounting your metronomes on your kit. Looking for the most comfortable place to put mine. Just picked up the Tama. Thanks!

I have an iPad/Metronome to the left of my hat connected via a gooseneck. Bluetooth headphones.

I've also used my iPhone and earbuds under my hearing protection. iPhone stayed in my pocket and it wasn't an issue.

If you're considering a setup like this, here are the down sides of my setup so you can avoid them in advance:

- Over-ear headphones are not as good as 'real' hearing protection.
- I can't simultaneously charge and use my headset.
- The tips of the sticks don't work on the iPad. You'll be SOOOOO tempted to try this every time even though you know it doesn't work and will scratch the shit out of your iPad.
- Occasionally, I will bump it, and it will pivot just far enough to make reading sheet music at an angle a PITA
- It's one more expensive thing to worry about.
- Embarrassing when bandmates catch you looking at porno

Thanks man. I'm guessing that is going to be the most natural spot to put it in. I guess we can tell if you're watching porn, If you start speeding up all of a sudden. Haha

I clamp it to a cymbal stand, placed right in front of my main snare. Tama makes a rod designed to screw into their Rhythm Watch metronome and attach to the clamp.

I have the Tama one too. Ended up with an extra clamp somehow, so I got the mount for it. I have it positioned similar to the one above this post.

Thanks Gents! Im digging where yours is located Jack. THanks for the idea!

I started mounting mine on the bass drum with velcro.................not sure if I'm going to keep it there.................but here it is.

The rhythm watch is the best metronome I've used.........highly recommended

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to mount my metronome in the exact same spot (on top of the bass drum.) That seems like the best spot to me after gigging with a metronome a fair amount the past few years. Always visible whether playing on the left side or right side of the kit.

I too have the Tama model, but I've been using various metronomes on my phone lately. Need to figure out how to mount it.

I used about a 1 1/2" square piece of industrial velcro on the hoop and the back of the rhythm watch.......................works great. It's white, so it doesn't stand out when the RW isn't there for some reason.

Yeah, that's a great idea. My problem is that I'm using my phone now for my metronome and I certainly don't want velcro on it. But that is the easiest solution! I've seen those little smart phone brackets from Gibraltar with the gooseneck and clamp. I could easily clamp that onto my bass drum mounted tom holder and position my phone where I need it, but those things are like $50 and the phone mount is cheap plastic.

I'm trying to make something myself, but haven't had much luck.

You may be able to find a cheap, used case for your phone, and velcro that to the hoop??? May work

That's a great idea! That's the kind of things I'm trying to come up with. Sometimes the most obvious things are the best. Thanks!

A unit that laser projects the tempo onto the first mounted tom would be nice. A heads up display so to speak.
