Yep, I bought a nice large classic Tama Superstar (shells only) - 24" kick, 18" floor tom, 14" rack tom. It's huge.

I'm to understand that basic tama lugs for toms will fit my rack and floor toms, but as far as the lugs go for the bass drum itself, I cannot help but be stumped.

As in, where does one procure said lugs?

Does Tama hate me?

No, but Pearl and Yamaha might. Check eBay. Sometimes you have to buy a complete drum to get "parts". Also, if you have an "honest to gawd" drum shop around (not GC), some shops have/carry/sell tons of used parts. You might luck out and find a drum "with more extra holes than swiss cheese", which won't matter, 'cause all you need is the hardware. Taking on projects, gotta keep your eyes open. The more yard sales, swap meets, parking lot sales you go to ... or you can buy all new lugs from a "parts" house, like Precission Drum http://www.precisiondrum.com/html/body_parts.html#lugs

I guess part of what I'm asking is this: are tama parts universal, or are they like Mapex, where it is a pain in the bum to find hardware?

Thank you for your reply.

Yuo maight try Dale's Drum shop in Pittsburgh or is it Harrisburg, PA. Do a google search for them. Be friendly and just ask about NOS or if they have any old drums from your era.

I am restring a large superstar project myself. those are great sounding shells ;-) You will find those lugs on ebay but they are not cheap. You also should keep your eyes open for old Imperialstar kits and lugs, they are the same thing.

You other option is to measure the hole spacing and look around

What color did you get? Are they the extra series or standard size in depth? Great chioce for drums. I you need parts I might be able to help. I have spares of various parts from restoring my set. Best of luck and congrats!

I would still keep watching Ebay. There's lots of parts to be had there. You could also join and log on the the Vintage drum forum, and check the for sale section.Members Blairdrums, and Mikey777 both have lots of Tama parts.

You could also try the Tama forum, which has parts for sale also. Its a shame Tama destroyed the dies for all the superstar/imperialstar hardware....they could be making serious bucks.Good luck.
