Default Fixing Gretsch Renown Maple Cherryburst "Wrap"

So, my drum recently was destroyed in the mail pretty bad, the shell is cracked in half and needs to have the wrap replaced, although it's not really a wrap, since its made of wood. I think it may even be one of the plys.

Also, if anybody has any suggestions for for to get the old wrap off that would be really helpful, I was thinking grinding down the hard plastic then sand down to the previous ply.

Thanks, y'all!!

Pretty sure the Renowns are a lacquer finish and not a wrap. If so, there is no way to remove it other than to sand the whole shell back.
