Default Energetic Jazz Artists

I'd like some suggestions for some albums that have some great drummers playing like an upbeat jazz or swing type music. I like slower jazz also, but I think if I listened to more upbeat jazz then it would influence my playing more.

Thanks in advance!

If you want upbeat, listen to 'The Night has a Thousand Eyes' by John Coltrane. That's a great upbeat piece.

Throw a stone in a group of jazz drummers and you'll probably hit an energetic one :)

This page seems to cover your question it pretty well: http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/page..._jazzdrum.html

For an insane energy blast it's pretty hard to go past Narada Michael Walden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quhbvB_5JyM

Recommend Weather Report's Black Market and Heavy Weather. Very advanced stuff - not for the faint-hearted (like me), though.

I recently purchased an album by Tim Richards Trio - Shapeshifting. There are a few slower numbers on the album but most are pretty upbeat and the drummer, Jeff Lardner, is all over it. If you have Spotify then that is an excellent way to check stuff out before you purchase.
