Default Bass drops off an ipad??

Whats up guys! I'm playing in a band that's starting to pick up gigs left and right and we're really wanting to expand our horizons and try new things. I suggested that we could start using bass drops in parts of our songs and they loved it.

So our bassist downloaded a synth app on his ipad and it came with a bass drop setting. The only problem is, I can only play it off the ipad.

I have to re-position my stick and make sure i can hit the exact button to be able to play it. As you can imagine, it's staring to get old.

Is there ANY way I can hook this ipad up to an electronic drum pad and be able to play it like the pros? Any kind of advice would be great.

Thanks guys!

There are midi adapters for iPads, just connect a pad/multi-pad that has midi out - such as the Alesis PercPad for $99 - and you're all set.

Of course, it might be simpler to get the Alesis SamplePad for $199, load the custom sample (and whatever else you need up to 14mb) and bypass all of the other cabling and coordination.

I don't see what the problem is here. Just get some guitar straps, cut them about 90% of the way across and give them to the bass player. After a few songs, the strap will break, and the bass will drop.

Yes, but being the bass player, it won't be in the right spot, or in time, and it will be too loud.

Somebody explain it to me cause I don't understand. Why canít the bass guitar just go boom boom boom low on the 4th or 5th strings? What do you need an ipad for?

From that article:

"its normaly when the percussion pauses for a second and then comes back with a heavier bassline."

So why can't the bass guitar just go boom boom boom way down low.

He can. Many bass players are not properly equipped or versed in mimicking the sound. As you've found on drums, mimicking a machine can require a bit of practice and ingenuity.

It also required the drummer's cooperation, as you need a pad with a lower sub-sound than the analog kick will produce. I believe this is what the OP is talking about.

I'm guessing they're talking about using a bass drop in a metal setting, not an electronic one. You can hear an example at just about 2:18 here. It's more of an effect than an actual melodic figure.

DaVinCi, DaVinCi, DaVinCi!!!!!!

Remember when bass-drops and beat-drops referred to the parts in the song where the bass/beat 'stopped'?
