There is a local classified ad for a Westbury WDD590 for 500 dollars. assuming its in good shape, is this a good price and is it comparable to the DTX set? I loved the sound of the kick drum on the Yamaha... Very very deep and solid. any input would be great thanks |

I just did a search on them and it seems they make beginner wood kits. I would go for the Yamaha. There are only a few reliable e-drums IMO and Yamaha is one of them Roland is another.

and what are some key/important things to make sure the drums have? most decent yamahas and rolands have a real deep traditional sounding kit them to them right?
the yamaha DTX500K I tried in the store had a very nice deep full sound to it. not sure how the xplorer kit compares to the DTX500? all I can find in the local classifieds is the xplorer kit |

Most Yamaha's and Roland's have a variety of drum kits on them and they are fully customizable. I have a Roland TD4 it has 25 kits on it and love it, not as much as my acoustic drums though. The more expensive the more features you get.
