Drum Skins that is...

Ok here's the problem......I've got a Tama Superstar custom. I'm using Evans G2 Coated on the batter and Remo diplomats on the reso.

I can't for the life me get them to sound right..not matter what I do I get overtone city and they sounds like bins....I'm wondering if the dips are too thin? and I should maybe stick thicker reso's on or even batter heads...

anyone? any ideas....before I go nuts..!

Have you had other heads that sound good on the kit *in the same room*? Just saying it could be the room, not the heads.

Have you successfully tuned a set of drums before? You've not given any indication of your tuning experience...
 
Good point well made Mark....

I'm not a beginner when it comes to tuning, been drumming on and off for years but mainly with Drum Corps gear, so it's a little different....but I've been trying to find that 'perfect' sound (we all have our own) since owning these drums......now I'm not sure I've got the right skins for the job.....

think I might gaffa the Dips a bit and see what's what....

If that doesn't work......can anyone suggest a good reso head that works with G2's
