Default Please help identify this Ludwig Snare

Hello forumers!

I just purchased this snare at a pawn shop today on the cheap. The previous owner had remo black suede heads on it, changed the snares to dw brand, and was cranked really high. I am going to strip it down and clean it up.

I am really hoping it is a LM402. The badge is the 100 year anniversary. I'm guessing the shell is aluminum. It is not magnetic because I tested it at the shop. The only thing that is magnetic are the hoops. I searched high and wide on this site and came up with no other photos of an identical snare drum. Any input would be appreciated.

10 'imperial style' lugs,a non-magnetic shell would suggest it is an LM402.... but many other experts on here will confirm 100%.
I went through a similar exercise a few months ago.
Great condition....how cheap? great find! Nice. Gotta love pawn shops.

Wow.

I thoroughly cleaned this drum, slapped on some new heads and played it for a while. I am really digging this snare. I'll only know till I've gone through battle, but at this point I may start getting rid of snares.

Dare I say that my snare collection will end?

I'll hazzard a guess and wonder if it's Ludwig Metal.

Brass BB's and COB's as well as the bronze snares get an LB code, which I assume denotes either brass or broze.

I keep telling myself the same thing. Who knows, one of these days I may actually even believe it. :-)
