Gretsch Renown Maple 2013 model in Silver Oyster Pearl.
10 x 7, 12 x 8, 16 x 14 toms, 22 x 18 bass drum and 14 x 6,5 snare with additional 13 x 9 tom. Gives me several setup options, like 10-12-16, 12-13-16 or 10-13-16.
Great sounding and looking kit and the latest GTS is very slick and functional.

Those new Renowns are gorgeous! Love the finish.

What size are those timbales and what do you have them attached on because that looks like a great place to put them. Also beautiful kit.

DJ, The timbales are an old set they are 8" and 10" just mounted on an old cowbell mount. not the ultimate set up but it works. here's a couple more pics. Thanks for compliments folks. I used to have a Walnut set in the same sizes years ago but as i played them out the lugs wore down and i couldn't get replacements back then so i sold them. So when i had the chance to get this kit i jumped on it, everyone should a Gretsch in the stable. IMHO. pete.

Those truly are gorgeous, Pete!

Absolutely gorgeous . I found t- rods on eBay and they weren't too expensive.

My early 50's Broadkaster.
3 ply shells with clear interiors.
22,16,13,14.
As you can see I added some modern hardware from Gretsch and Ludwig.
I made sure to keep the classic spurs on the bass drum though.

Truly beautiful Bob, that's all you need right there. Are all the cymbals Istanbuls?

Thanks pete, The splash is a Zildjian K Custom Hybrid 11". The Swish Knocker is an old 8 rivet Zildjian 22". The Agop's are as follows. 21" Sultan Jazz ride, 18" Traditional left side ride, 14' Sultan hats, and a Paper Thin 18" crash.

Wow, so the Atlas mounts just fit in the original Gretsch lug-holes? That's good to know and opens up some posisbilities. I'd love to try the tom mount but wouldn't want to drill new holes in my USA Custom.

I have Atlas mounts installed on my USA Custom 12" and 13" toms but I must say I am quite dissapointed with results. It took some resonance and sustain off the drums so I will get original G1 GTS or Gauger RIMS soon. I can A/B USA custom toms with my New Classics. When you hold them by the rims they both sing nice. Put them on the l-rod and New Classics still resonates but Customs with Atlas mounts are quite dead.

Rest, Try moving them up or down the L rod some normally that is what kills the tone of the drum.

Yeah, I tried it. Best result is when the bracket sits on the top of the L-rod. That is the place I normally have it. The point is that the sound of the New Classic toms on the same L-rod is not affected.

One more to the collection.

Wanted a set with a 20" bass drum and didn't want to spend a bunch. This set was on clearance and it was too good to pass up. Pictured with the matching 5x14 snare. I also picked up a new version of a 6.5x14" snare in satin black.

Not pictured is the 12" tom which I really don't use and keep in a bag.

I've never purchased a new set for this price tag that has this much quality. I purchased the 5 drums new for less money than it would of cost me for one add on drum to one of my existing sets.

gorgeous Dave

is it a glass fade?

how many kits in your arsenal now?

Thanks Anthony! They called it Red Sparkle Fade Lacquer and is now a discontinued finish.

This makes Gretsch set #4 for me, along with a few other Gretsch snares.

Several months back I hooked up with Jess and ordered a Gretsch snare in tribute to my daughter. She loves purple and I got one for her to have when I keel over. I had this color on a set of Broadkasters back in the 1980’s and just loved it. Pimped it out with the Microsensitive and snap in key holder. My Avatar shows a picture of it.

And that is a Renown set yes?

Yes, indeed it is.

beautiful snare indeed

glad you went to Jess to get it done.... love those guys

I love that you did that for your daughter

all my kits have written inside the bass drum that these kits belong to my daughter .... I'll do the same with the USA Custom when it arrives.... which will be Gretsch kit #5 to the dismay of my wife :)

beautiful drums my friend

Thanks! Like yourself, I have found everyone at Maxwells to be top shelf.

Good idea about writing it inside your bass drum.

Looking forward to seeing #5. When's the ETA?

I had to oval the holes with a round file just a bit to allow the Atlas Arch to make the span distance. Being that the 22" drum has 8 lugs the spacing of the lugs was about 1/4" to far. If you look closely at the pics you can see that the Atlas lugs are slightly closer than the Gretsch lugs on the front head. The holes don't show with the Atlas mounts installed. If I ever reinstall the original lugs they would also cover the oval holes.
I am never going to remove the Atlas Arch because I am totally satisfied with the mounting system. I haven't had any issues with the Atlas mounts choking any of the 4 drums that I have installed them on.
I have also installed them on vintage Ludwig and Slingerland kits that I own.
If you have a 10 lug 22" bass drum, installing the Arch will not be a problem.
