My 7 Piece PDP X7!

New guy in here, thought i'd post my kit for you lot to endevour. I'm only 15, but drumming's my passion, i've played nearly 9 years, and started on a very basic CB Drums kit. I finally found a part time job 2 years ago, and saved until i could get a complete upgrade. I love it, i like to muck around with the layout, as the pictures show. I've normally been a 3 up 2 down type of guy, but i do like having my ride over my bass drum, so occasionally go 2 up 2 down. I also managed (with the help of my dad) to save up and sound proof a small room in the house, so i can play as loud as i want, with virtually now disruption to the rest of the house. It's my man cave, and i just love it.

- PDP X7 Silver To Black Sparkle Fade
- 8", 10" 12" 14" 16", 14" 8 Lug snare.
- ZHT cymbals,
- Pearl Hardware, Pearl Icon Rack
- Gibralter double pedal.
- Pinstripe skins.

So, enough talking here's the pictures...

Nice kit, you're lucky to have a great Dad to help as well. How did you go about soundproofing the room?

Thanks man! And there was great big window on the back wall, we bricked that up, then used a load of acoustic rock wall, layers and layers of acoustic plasterboard. Then i've made the sound tiles from old duvet. It's essentially a room within a room, its great!

Wow, that was quite a job! The panels on the wall, are they the sound tiles you mention? If so, how did you construct them? Thanks

Welcome and congrats on a nice set. And props for saving your own money to buy your gear. You have learned the value of a dollar, or pound, or Euro at an early age.

Indeed it was! Basically, went to the local diy store, bought some cheap wood, made some basic frames. Then covered them with two layers of thick duvets, and stapled into place. Not some much for sound proofing, but definalty stops echo and reverb within the room!

What's that on your hi hat rod to off-set the ching-ring? Interesting. Can you post a shot of that attachment or describe/link to what it is?

Thanks.

I used to use it to clamp my cowbell to a cymbal arm, but then i found i couldn't use the ching-ring and the drop clutch on the same rod. So i used the clamp instead. Works a charm!
