best double kick for $200-$300 AU

Won't get you much I'm afraid mate.....pretty much entry level stuff unless you buy used. A couple of Gibraltar pedals can be found for around $300. The Pearl P902 and DW 3002 are both around that price.

I also see a used Eliminator for $300 (Buy It Now price): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pearl-El...AU_Instrument_Accessories&hash=item3f0e3c3a62

or this one in better condition for an extra $100: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PEARLP-2...l_Instruments_Instruments&hash=item2c5f4de74b

Couldn't see much else there for that price though.

+ 1 on the pearl, Man prices suck down there compared to here. How is your economy doing? Do you guys ever order from places like Musicians Friend?

yeah fair enough.
cheers for that and i was looking at the mapex p980.... any views??

Two days ago I recieved my Pearl P2002c Eliminator. I won't bash any other brands but this is an amazing double pedal! Also it was under 290 USD and its their top of the line pedal. Every other brand has a pedal in that range but its not their best. This is the pedal to get period.

I got the eliminator 2002c for 300 bucks American.Kicked around all of em before going with this one.Nothing better.

The two that caught my eye that I seen online only was the Mapex 710tw

http://www.zzounds.com/item--MAP710TW

Or ive even heard decent things about the Vex for around a hundred bucks

http://www.amazon.com/Vex-Touring-Double-Bass-Pedal/dp/B001G2DCP6

All three mentioned employ dual chain drives.Try and make that a minimal requirement .

If that Vex even comes close to trying to copy the eliminator 2002,then its easily worth 100 bucks.

Good luck

Drumcraft Series 6 double pedal - $179 last I checked. Great little pedal.

I don't really know about Aussie but yeah, they are pretty bad! Over here there are two major music chains, and each one has brands that the other is not allowed to sell. So if you want Pearl or Zildjian gear, you have one store to go to, if you want Tama or Paiste, you have to go to the other lot. So I think the lack of competition is a big cause of the stupid prices. Thankfully our ailing economy has led to the stores running a lot of specials just to keep the cash rolling in.

I sometimes order small things from overseas, but...

1. the shipping costs are often horrendous
2. Exchange rate makes things go up more
3. Anything over a certain amount (I think $400NZ) gets 15% sales tax added
4. A lot of online music stores won't ship here, because the two major chains have exclusive rights to sell their brands.

As for the pedal, I have one of the Pearl single chain models a few notches below the Eliminator. Don't know what it's worth new but I picked it up for $200 second hand and happy as larry.

i have the dw 2002 and it is really good if you want to spend a little more you can get the 3000 series pedal

I'll just go and dissagree with everybody here and say pound for pound, the Tama Iron Cobra Jr. is the best under 200 US dollar pedal on the market, especially for a giging drummer. Its light, fast and durable enough except for those guys who stomp on pedals, and crack cymbals every week.

For 300 I'm going to say the Iron Cobra Power Glide. Its built like a tank, and is just as fast as just about any pedal out there except for 1 or 2 that you have to pay close to or over 500 for.And 500 for a pedal is just stupid.Just my opinion.

US prices are much lower than Australian.... you would struggle to even find a second hand Iron Cobra for 300 Aussie dollars let alone a new one.

Yeah I know mate. That kind of sucks for you guys in OZ.But I'll bet you get a better deal an Brady,at least I hope you do.Cheers

You'd think so wouldn't you.

My Brady complaints are well touted on this forum mate. Why it costs me more to buy a drum made in my own country than it does to have one shipped from New York (all the way across continental USA and then all the way across the Pacific) is completely beyond me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....I weep a little everytime I see a quote in US dollars......none more so than a quote for a Brady. :)

Sorry..I didn't know mate.That makes about as much sense as Joey 182 and Bmeat combined,Cheers ; )
