Default the brush video I promised ...

so in another thread by GetAgrippa I mentioned a sort of "unorthodox" brush style that I developed long ago and said I would show what I meant ... so here is a video of my shitty brush playing ;)

sorry my voice is so low ... headphones may be best I guess

hope you dig it or hate it

Sweet! Thanks for posting this Tony. I like you "settled in" to a consistent form and smooth moves-sounds great. You like using both hands for finesse accents-that interplay sounds sweet. I'm bipolar switching my lead swish hand-can't seem to get both swishing so well as you-so I'm unsettled in a consistent form and smooth swishing-I'm also a little whack crazy. Sometimes it feels better to hold the brush traditional with my right or left hand to get smooth swishing. I'm just all over the place-so I think I need to work on a more consistent approach and solidify that. I think I may be a little too light a touch when I brush too?? Seems like watching all the videos of others turns into this big blob amalgam in my brain and it's difficult to find my way. I think your video has highlighted find my own way that works "for me" and settle in a consistent smooth form with nice accents (I usually just ad lib fills-I like you have your signature fills-I'm going to work on that). Thanks man-I dig it.

Thanks for posting. As simple as some brush work sounds, it takes some time to perfect, and your method works for you. The pattern fits The A Train perfectly. The simple "my right hand plays quarter notes" made it simple to understand. Well done.

Yea always good to see your stuff man. I do it completely ass backwards. Reverse trad grip. I swish with the trad (right) hand. I'm not good at all. Brush playing impresses the pants off me, nice stuff. Sammy Davis Jr. is 100 times the brush player I am lol. Brush playing, what an art.

You're way off on brush playing. Your left brush has its 39th bristle, from the left, bent irregularly. Jeez. Get it right son.

My playing never calls for brushes, but it's a vibe I like, so I should get to it someday. Your video gave me a good foundation point - thank you.

Tony, that makes a lot of sense. I've always thought there was one way to play brushes and one way only. You've given me two good nuggets this week. Much appreciated and thanks for posting.

Very interesting and a worthwhile watch. Thank's for sharing that, another area of Drumming where I need to do much work.

Thanks for posting, Tony. I've never used brushes (or rather never used them anywhere close to how they should be used) but have been wanting to learn more about it.
