hey everyone.

I was wondering since there's a lot of drummer here, what is your favorite way of micing your drum and in which genre?

I'm a self called hard (hitter) metal groover. I love to hit hard but at the same time I like to do some nice drum n' bass beat. So unlike a lot of metal drummer I'm against any use of triggering. I never get a nice drum sound in my opinion and all the shows I did the drummer with trigger had the worse sound and was the least advance in technique most of the time.

So with that in mind I use a full close micing with 2 overheads and 1 subkick.
All the toms mic point toward the center of toms and there all clip-on in a way no tom that are close can get too much taken.
My Kick is at 2 inch of my port and pointing towards the center of bater head.
My two overheads is the one that created this topics. I used the XY from behind me and now I'm trying out the Glyn Johns Technique.

What are your technique of micing and how do you palce your mics.

Here's a sound / video of my micing sounding (I pass in a mixer in the 3.5 mic of my computer and use audacity)
