I filmed my drum teacher, what do you think?

I'm a new member but longtime reader of these posts. Up front, I should say thank you... these message boards, and particularly the archives, are invaluable.

Anyway, just wanted to get your thoughts on some quick videos I recorded of my drum teacher. It's really low budget (ie no budget) and the sound quality isn't great, but I was thinking of making more if people dig it.

Walter's a cool dude, if anything he's camera shy. But he's talented. Hopefully that's conveyed through the vids.

What yall think? And what type of vids do you think are the best for this kind of stuff?

p.s. I don't have any financial incentive in this. I'm just trying to help out a friend.

Welcome to the forum!

1st up, what a lovely man Walter is. He comes across as such a modest yet supremely capable player. Actually, my kind of player, with a big helping of real world expertise.

Very very enjoyable listen. Frankly, I don't care what the "official" educator opinion of Walter is, I like him, & would be honoured to know him. I think you struck lucky right there :)

I agree wholeheartedly with Andy. Walter has a great attitude, a desire to share his gift and gladly pass on knowledge. One is lucky to find a teacher like that.

And yes, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the positive responses. Yeah, I'm stoked he's my teacher. Good dude. We'll work on more vids down the line.

Doesn't seem like there's a shortage of online tutorial vids, but everyone plays different... the more, the better. And I guess certain things, like grip, are pretty contentious in the drum world... I had no idea until I started reading up on it.
