Ludwig Keystone Series Snares

I haven't played one in person. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or opinions?

I have 6.5 and 8" Keystone snares, tghey're very nice! Just played the 6.5 on a gig tonight.

They have a typically woody sound, with a little more presence, attack, whatever you want to call it. But a very pleasing sound, my #1 wood snare these days.

Thanks, Bermuda!

My favorite snares are my old Coliseums. The new Classic Maple 8x14s don't stack up to me. They aren't as thick. An 8x14 Keystone seems very intersting to me.

I have a Coliseum as well, and no, the Keystone is not going to have that solid rock sound. It's more expressive, though still punchier (beefier?) than a Classic Maple. the Coliseum is really its own thing, due mostly to the shell. The Keystone shell is actually pretty modest at about 1/4", but the oak/maple layup gives it more punch.
